Getting married in summer can be a nightmare because of the soaring temperatures and even worse, the humidity. My thoughts always go to the poor male guests who have to wear a suit and tie while we women can feel fresh and breezy in flowing strapless dresses. I’ve often wondered why those who choose to get married in July and August don’t spare a thought for the discomfort they are causing their guests especially during an unbearable heat wave. Would it be so terrible to give men the option of not wearing a tie if they don’t want to? I’ve heard of men who refuse point blank to attend weddings in summer because they have to wear a tie, and I cannot say I blame them. If the couple is really considerate they could even take it further and inform the men that they can drop the formal suit as well, informing them than a more casual dress code of a nice pair of trousers and an open necked shirt would be acceptable (what I believe is known as ‘smart casual’) Of course, here is where the guests have to be considerate in return. ‘Casual’ should not be taken to the extreme, purely out of respect for the newlyweds who have gone to a great deal of expense and trouble to have this wedding. Unless the couple themselves are very boho chic and hold their wedding reception at the beach, I would avoid wearing flip flops. And those faded torn jeans should be left for the next Rod Stewart concert (if he ever comes back that is). If you have doubts about how a man can dress in a smart casual without looking as if he has simply taken off his jacket and left it on the back of a chair, just take your clue from the effortlessly elegant Italian men, who do this style so well. But a word to the wise: if you don’t have the figure or the personality to pull this look off, better stick to what you’re comfortable with; the usual suit. As the sweltering summer evening wears on, most of the men will start taking off their jackets anyway.

MFCC Weddings Exhibition 2010

Details of the 2010 Weddings Exhibition will soon be available. Dates are as follows (times still to be confirmed): Thursday 11th November 6.00pm - 10.30pm Friday 12th November 6.00pm - 11pm Saturday 13th November 6.00pm - 11pm Sunday 14th November 10am - 9pm
This will be the special 15th Anniversary edition of the Weddings Exhibition.
Catalogue & Plan of the Fair This year the design of the exhibition hall will be recreated to give the fair a new look with changes made to the layout to further innovate the Event, thus creating a new experience for the Visitor.
Official Fair Catalogue and a layout plan of the Exhibition are handed out at the entrance by fair hostesses.
Fashion Show The Exhibition hall which hosted the fashion show last year will be extended and will house more exhibitors as well as a music stage.
Tickets Block tickets will this year be sold to encourage couples to visit more than once.

Couples who attended sampled great catering food on Sunday 1st April 2007 between 11am and 8pm. Cordina Outside Catering by Cafe Cordina held an Open Day at Torre Paulina, Madliena Road in Madliena.
Cordina Outside Catering Menus start from Lm4.50 per person. Special offers included free nights at the Corinthia Marina, free chocolate fountain and discounted fees on selected venues.

Vassallo & Xuereb Ltd participated in the Spring-Fair at MFCC Ta`Qali from the 10th till the 13th of April (both days inclusive) at Stand B14, where various discounts were be offered on all iron works.

Traditional Maltese Wedding @ Buskett

The Malta Council for Culture and The Arts invited the sub committee for culture within St. Catherine Musical Society of Zurrieq to repeat the re-enactment of the Traditional Maltese Wedding during the Imnarja Festivities at Buskett next Saturday 28th June at 11.00pm. The wedding ceremony will take place on stage followed by a wedding march that will take the wedding party around the gardens later.
